Versatile host and everyone’s favorite trivia man Kim “Kuya Kim” Atienza is still a loyal Kapuso after renewing his contract with GMA Network on Dec. 2.

“Being on GMA-7 gave me the privilege and honor to be in something that I truly love, and I’m passionate about,” said Kuya Kim during a media conference in Quezon City.

Kim added: “To the Kapuso bosses, thank you for taking me in. Thank you very much for taking care of me. Thank you very much for optimizing whatever talent I’m capable of giving. I’m honored and very appreciative of the trust that you give me.

​"Sa mga fans naman, magpatuloy po sana ang kanilang suporta. Bilang Kapuso, I will do my best to constantly reinvent myself and put in more passion ​t​o fulfill this vocation that God has given me.

​"Sa mga Kapuso colleagues ko na nakatrabaho ko sa apat na shows, napakasarap ninyong kasama. Ang trabaho kasama ninyo ay hindi trabaho. Whenever I'm with you, I look forward to that working day because to me it’s not work – it’s a spirit of fun, kindness, and family na talagang damang-dama ko,” ​Kuya Kim said.

Present during the contract signing were GMA Network President and CEO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr.; Senior Vice President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide, and Support Group; and President of GMA Films Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes; GMA Public Affairs First Vice President Nessa Valdellon; GMA Integrated News Vice President and Deputy Head for News Programs and Specials Michelle Seva; Consultant for GMA Entertainment Group Darling de Jesus-Bodegon, and Kim Atienza’s manager, Noel Ferrer.

Kim expressed his fulfillment after over 20 years in the entertainment industry.

"Since I started in television, my mentors said it's not about me but yung takeaway ko. Kung walang takeaway sa mga sinasabi ko, walang fulfillment. It's about what I learned."

On Nov. 30, Kuya Kim debuted in an infotainment program dubbed "Ang Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim," airing on GMA Network on Saturdays at 10:45 a.m.

"Ang role ko sa television ay magbigay ng information at kaalaman sa isang paraan na maiintindihan ng maraming tao: hindi kumplikado at simple," Kim said.

He is wearing a different hat in his new show, where a "younger" Kuya Kim will appear.

"Ang attack ng show na ito ay pang GenZ. May mga digital inputs din ang show. Kung mapapansin ninyo very digital ang show para swak sa panlasa ng mga bata," he said.

Kuya Kim mentioned that he embraces change in all aspects of life and is committed to continuous learning.

"Ang kaalaman is ever evolving. Pag sinabi nilang 'Ang Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim,' alam mo na ba lahat? Hindi. Kasi ang kaalaman ay parami ng parami at may mga bagong kaalaman na dapat pag aralan.

"Example AI (artificial intelligence). Hindi pa natin gaanong alam ang AI. Ano ba yang AI na yan? At paano kaya ito makakatulong sa buhay or trabaho natin? Ang dami pang nating dapat alamin sa field na yan and others.

"So, kaalaman is evolving, and Kuya Kim will learn as well," Kuya Kim added.

Asked what makes his new program different from other infotainment shows, Kuya Kim said: "Mas bata and tech-y ang show na ito. Mas mabilis ito. Ang attention span ng mga tao ngayon lalo na ang kabataan napaka-igsi. Kung may sasabihin ka, kailangan mas maikli lang yan at napakatalino ng mga bata ngayon. Sabihin mo kaagad kung meron kang gustong sabihin."

While social media can be harmful, Kim said it is impossible not to look at it. "First, to say don't look at social media is impossible because it's already there. However, depending on your use, social media can be harmful or valuable."

Kuya Kim attributes his passion for trivia to reading books and magazines when he was younger. He owns a Kindle, which he downloads e-mags and e-books.

In 2021, Kuya Kim – through GMA Public Affairs – joined GMA Network to become part of its roster of well-loved talents and personalities. And while he considers Public Affairs as his primary home, he is proud to say he is the only Kapuso host with a program in GMA Integrated News, Public Affairs, and Entertainment. 

From headlining the magazine show “Dapat Alam Mo!” he also became part of top-rating flagship newscast “24 Oras,” the talk show “Mars Pa More,” and the original countdown variety show “TiktoClock.”
