The Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Thursday, Dec. 5, that Education Secretary Sonny Angara visited typhoon-affected schools in Camarines Sur to turn over essential learning, teaching, and digital materials.

“Kami po sa DepEd, initial visit pa lang po ito. Asahan po ninyo ang mga darating pang aksyon. Makakaasa po kayo na patuloy naming isusulong ang dekalidad na edukasyon para sa bawat bata (We at DepEd are just on our initial visit. You can expect more actions in the coming days. Rest assured, we will continue to advocate for quality education for every child),” Angara said during the visit, together with DepEd officials and partners.
DepEd said Gainza Central School benefited from donations by UNICEF, which included teaching kits, student supplies, classroom materials, and digital tools to support learning recovery efforts.
Meanwhile, Bula Central School received learning packs and whiteboards through USAID's Advancing Basic Education in the Philippines (ABC+) Project.
Angara extended his gratitude to UNICEF and USAID for their support in strengthening DepEd’s learning recovery initiatives.
Other affected schools
During his visit, Angara also assessed the condition of Minalabac National High School, which had been severely affected by flooding.
At Rodriguez National High School, he toured the school’s innovative digital classroom, equipped with computers and internet access, where Senior High School students take coding lessons.
Angara also inaugurated Camarines Sur's first learning and development center for teachers, the Academy of Inclusive Learning and Development (iLEAD).
The center will provide training programs to support professional growth, enabling educators to personalize their learning journeys.
Angara was joined by Camarines Sur 2nd District Representative LRAY Villafuerte, Governor Luigi Villafuerte, and other DepEd officials from both the Central and Regional Offices during his school visits.
