LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices of Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur are assessing the possible damage from the magnitude-5.7 earthquake on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Ilocos Norte PDRRMO chief Marcel Tabije said that the provincial and local government unit engineering offices are conducting building assessment.
BANGUI, Ilocos Norte, the epicenter of the earthquake.
“Initially, we did not yet receive any report on damages caused by the quake. However, we are closely check all our building structures all over the province,” Tabije said.
He added that no tsunami occured during the earthquake.
Ilocos Sur PDRRMO chief Rhon Arquelada also said they have yet to receive any damage report.
“We are currently checking all buildings in the province to know if these structures sustained damage in the earthquake,” said Arquelada.
The earthquake struck Ilocos Norte at 5:58 a.m. and its epicenter was located four kilometers southwest of Bangui town.
