Filipinos in South Korea have been advised to remain calm amid the declaration and the immediate lifting of martial law in the country.
The Philippine Embassy in Seoul urged Filipinos to follow the advice coming from South Korean authorities, while the embassy will keep them posted about current developments.
The announcement came after President Yoon Suk-yeol declared on Tuesday night, Dec. 2, martial law over the country, but lifted it a few hours after following opposition votes from the parliament.
The declaration prompted citizens to stage protests as police and military personnel were deployed to surround the parliament and prevent lawmakers from holding assembly.
"Pinapayuhan ng Embahada ng Pilipinas sa Seoul ang lahat ng mga Pilipino sa bansang Korea na manatiling kalmado sa gitna ng mga mahahalagang kaganapan (The Philippine Embassy in Seoul is advising all Filipinos in Korea to remain calm amid important developments in the country)," the embassy said.
