CAMP ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Police Regional Office-2 said that security measures are in place to ensure the safety and security of people in Cagayan Valley during the New Year’s Eve revelry.
“PRO-2 is on alert 24/7 in welcoming 2025. We have deployed our personnel to ensure public safety and security and celebrate New Year free from criminality and harm,” Police Brig. Gen. Antonio P. Marallag Jr., PRO-2 director, said.
He reminded the people to be alert and immediately report suspicious activities to police hotlines and assistance desks in strategic places and police stations.
“Let us all work together to achieve a truly peaceful and crime-free observance of the New Year,” Marallag said.
Meanwhile, the PRO-2 destroyed illegal firecrackers on Monday, Dec. 30.
These were confiscated and surrendered from Dec. 18 to 29 as part of the government campaign to reduce injuries, fatalities, and property damage caused by illegal firecrackers this new year.
Marallag said 9,720 illegal firecrackers worth P79,447 were destroyed.
He said the activity reflects their steadfast commitment in enforcing Republic Act No. 7183, which regulates the sale, distribution, and use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices.
"We urge everyone to celebrate responsibly and to notify local authorities of the use of illegal fireworks. By working together, we can avoid accidents and maintain community safety,” Marallag said.
