Police log 30 fireworks-related injuries in Batangas, Laguna, Lucena City

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Police said 30 individuals sustained fireworks-related injuries on New Year’s Eve in Laguna, Batangas, and Lucena City, Quezon.

The Police Regional Office 4-A said nine were from Laguna, 19 in Batangas, and two in Lucena City.

They were victims of “boga” or improvised cannon and other firecrackers and were treated in hospitals and sent home. No amputations have been recorded.

Most of the victims were minors aged five to 16 and the oldest was 19.

Police said their injuries were caused by mishandling, playing, and accidental explosion.
