CEBU CITY – The anti-criminality campaign did not stop during the holiday season as illegal drugs worth P36 million were seized in a series of police operations in Central Visayas.

The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas reported that P36 million worth of illegal drugs were recovered and 385 persons were arrested for various offenses from Dec. 22 to 28.
The PRO-7 said that during the seven-day period, 5.3 kilos of shabu with a standard drug price of P36,339,460 were confiscated and 140 drug suspects were arrested.
Anti-illegal gambling operations also led to the arrest of 156 individuals and confiscation of bet money worth P11,849.
Sixty-one wanted persons were apprehended and 60 unlicensed firearms were seized in the campaign against loose firearms.
Police Brig. Gen. Roy Parena, officer-in-charge of PRO-7, said the series of operations is part of the measures to achieve a peaceful celebration of the New Year as well as the upcoming Sinulog Festival.
“We have been extensively preparing and have adjusted our security strategies in anticipation of the New Year celebrations and the upcoming Sinulog festivities,” said Parena.
