LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – House Committee on Appropriations Chairman Rep. Elizaldy Co of Ako Bicol party-list said that the daily subsistence allowance of soldiers will increase by 100 percent next year.
Co, speaking during the recent fellowship dinner of the Armed Forces Southern Luzon Command here, said that the proposed increase in the subsistence allowance for soldiers has been included in the 2025 national budget.
“Let us make your Christmas merry. Your subsistence allowance will double from P150 to P350,” Co said.
Co said that Congress has allocated P16 billion for their additional subsistence allowance.
He said that from the original P8 billion, the allocation was doubled to ensure that every member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines are properly compensated.
Co added that the increase reflects the House's commitment to meet the needs of soldiers and their families.
Soldiers are the most important component of the nation's defense against enemies, he said.
Solcom commander Lt. Gen. Facundo O. Palafox IV thanked the government for their support.
"We would like to thank our commander-in-chief, the President of the Republic of the Philippines, His Excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., for all the support that he is giving the Armed Forces, specifically soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines in Southern Luzon. Sir, we would like to reassure you our commitment to your administration and our solemn support to uphold the rule of law and to abide by the chain of command," he said.
