CEBU CITY – Police seized illegal drugs worth P39 million in a week-long anti-criminality and law enforcement operation in Central Visayas.
The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas said 572 individuals were nabbed in the Nov. 24 to 30 operation.
More than five kilos of suspected shabu were seized and 174 persons were arrested in the campaign against illegal drugs.
Lawmen confiscated P15,223 in bet money.
In the campaign against wanted persons, 172 individuals were arrested. Twenty-five of them were considered as most wanted persons.
Ninety-eight firearms, three explosives, and bullets were recovered in the campaign against loose firearms. At least 22 persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearms.
Police Brig. Gen. Roy Parena, officer-in-charge of PRO-7, said it is important that all police units in Central Visayas are on alert especially this holiday season.
“The PRO-7 is committed to a proactive approach to law enforcement. Our security measures are aimed at increasing police visibility and actively engaging the community in the fight against crime with the safety and security of the Central Visayas community as our top priority,” said Parena.
