P39-M shabu, marijuana seized in Negros Occidental in 11 months


BACOLOD CITY – Police seized shabu and marijuana worth more than P39 million and 1,130 drug suspects were arrested in Negros Occidental from Jan. 1 to Nov. 25 this year.

Recovered from the suspects were 5.8 kilos of suspected shabu and 1.5 kilos of marijuana.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office said 914 anti-illegal drug operations have been conducted this year compared to 762 in the same period in 2023.

Lawmen apprehended 205 individuals, confiscated 226 illegal firearms, and 848 guns were surrendered from January to November.

Police conducted 198 operations against loose firearms in the first 11 months of this year, 52 more than the 146 conducted in 2023. 

Seven-hundred thirty-seven operations were conducted against illegal gambling this year, 110 more than last year. More than 2,000 individuals were caught and bet money amounting to P617,085 was confiscated. 

Two-thousand, three-hundred seven wanted persons were nabbed – 212 most wanted persons and 2,095 other wanted persons.

Police Col. Rainerio de Chavez, Negros Occidental police director, vowed to sustain these accomplishments that made the province more peaceful and orderly.
