Our Home's Academy of Sofa: An interschool design challenge

Our Home celebrates the culminating event for the Academy of Sofa, an interschool design challenge for students.

This event marks the beginning of something truly special: Our Home’s very first interschool design challenge. What started as an intraschool design challenge has grown into an inspiring collaboration, showcasing the talent and creativity of emerging furniture designers from different schools. The University of the Philippines Diliman, the University of the East, and the Philippine School of Interior Design participated in this sofa design challenge.

This project was created with the vision of fostering and showcasing the remarkable talents of emerging home furniture designers. Our mission is to empower these students, enabling them to transform their ideas into reality while immersing them in the real-world process of furniture design — from material selection to the complexities of production.

The sofa design challenge became even more meaningful through our collaboration with Carl Colossal, whose partnership with Our Home has further strengthened our commitment to nurturing young design talents. Carl Colossal shares Our Home’s passion for supporting emerging talents, and together, we aim to equip students with invaluable hands-on experience, offer them a platform to present their designs to a wider audience, and provide them with the opportunity to step into the world of design and retail. This collaboration is designed to give students the tools, exposure, and opportunities to showcase their work — and even bring their designs to the market.

Through this Our Home initiative, students have had the chance to showcase their work to a wider audience and step into the world of design and retail.

This interschool design challenge initiative of Our Home aims to equip students with invaluable hands-on experience, provide them with the platform to showcase their designs to a wider audience, and an opportunity to step into the world of design and retail.

Visit the Academy of Sofa exhibit at Our Home Megamall until December 8, 2024. The Academy of Sofa exhibit will have a store caravan for the top 3 design choices at Our Home North Edsa from December 9 to 15 and at Our Home MOA from December 16 to 22.
