Man wanted for multi-billion casino scam caught in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY â€“ Police apprehended a 41-year-old man wanted for syndicated estafa and involvement in a multi-billion peso casino scam in a manhunt operation in Barangay Kabayanihan here on Nov. 28.

Police Col. Ruel Tagel, Baguio police chief, said the suspect, Master, is believed to be a member of the Team Z Horizon casino junket scam.

Master was arrested on a warrant issued by the Baguio City Regional Trial Court.

The court recommend no bail for the suspect.

The suspect was listed as the fifth most wanted person in the Cordillera region by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Cordillera.

He was also the third most wanted person here.

The suspect was nabbed weeks after Indonesian authorities arrested the alleged leader of the scam in Bali, Indonesia on Nov. 9 while boarding a flight to Hong Kong.

Tagel commended operating units for arresting the suspect.

He reaffirmed their commitment to fighting crime and encouraged anyone with additional information about the scam to come forward.
