JG Summit Holdings Inc., the flagship of the Gokongwei family, reported that Lisa Gokongwei-Cheng has resigned as Chief Digital Officer of the company, effective Jan. 1 next year due to a leadership reorganization.
In its disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), the firm said Gokongwei-Cheng will be replaced by JG Summit’s Chief Information Officer, Ma. Cristina Bellaflor P. Angeles, whose appointment will also take effect on Jan. 1, 2025.
JG Summit added that Angeles will concurrently serve as Chief Information Officer and Chief Digital Officer of the company.
Upon inquiry, JG Summit said Gokongwei-Chen will be focusing on the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, where she is the General Manager and Trustee, and Summit Media as she is handing over the reigns to a very capable colleague.
A former journalist, Gokongwei-Cheng founded Summit Media in June 1995, starting with the publication of local fashion magazine Preview.
She grew the company into a leader in the Philippine magazine industry through both home-grown and licensed foreign publications.
Keeping ahead of the times, Gokongwei-Cheng eventually transformed Summit Media into a fully-digital publishing company.
She then moved on to bring her digital expertise to JG Summit as Senior Vice President for Digital Transformation and Corporate Services at the Gokongwei Group.
Gokongwei-Cheng sits on the Board of Trustees of Ateneo de Manila University, where she earned a degree in AB Communications.
She is also on the Board of Visitors of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where she earned a master's degree.
