LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Police said four individuals perished due to bad weather caused by the shearline over weekend in the Bicol region.
The Philippine National Police-Bicol said a 39-year-old man drowned at the Binahan River in Ragay town, Camarines Sur province while crossing the Philippine National Railway bridge on Saturday.
Investigation said that the drunk victim and a companion were crossing the Mamalao Bridge on when his jacket fell on the railway.
The victim reached his jacket but lost his balance and slipped. He hit the concrete foundation of the bridge before plunging into the swollen Binahan River.
Police said bridge was damaged, prompting barangay officials to close the infrastructure by setting up barricades.
Authorities recovered the body of the victim on Monday.
Police said that the victim’s family believes that the incident was an accident and no foul play happened.
Camarines Norte
A couple was buried alive in a landslide in Purok 1, Barangay Anamean, Labo town, Camarines Norte province on Sunday.
Police identified the victims as Eliberto, 52, and wife Mary Ann, 49.
Investigation said neighbors of the victims heard loud noise and saw the couple buried by a landslide.
Neighbors retrieved the victims who were taken to the hospital where Eliberto was declared dead and Mary Ann recovering.
Camarines Sur
Two senior citizens drowned while crossing a spillway in Cabusao town in Camarines Sur province on Sunday.
Police said the victims were swept away by the strong current and their bodies were retrieved on Monday morning 50 meters away from the spillway.
