“And that’s a wrap for 2024! The U.S.-Philippine relationship is #OnHyperdrive, and we look forward to stronger and closer ties in 2025,” it said in the caption of a video post on X (formerly Twitter), with hashtags #FriendsPartnersAllies #PartnersInProsperity.
The 1:43-minute long video showed a photo slideshow of various events, activities, and milestones of the US Embassy over the past year.
“2024 was a year bursting with activities . . . Numbers are fun!!! Here are some of ours,” the slideshow read.
The embassy shared that it issued over 30,000 immigrants visas and over 250,000 nonimmigrant visas.
The US also sent 27 trade delegations to the Philippines in 2024, welcomed over 32,000 Filipino Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative members, and had over 450 Filipinos participating in US government-supported exchange programs and education and training opportunities.
In terms of aid, the US gave $500 million in foreign military financing in 2024 and provided nearly $10 million worth of US Agency for International Development (USAID) disaster relief support funding for over nine natural disasters.
Some of the embassy’s “top moments” were the Trilateral Leadership Summit (and establishment of the Luzon Economic Corridor), the 4th Philippines-United States 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue, the Presidential Trade and Investment Mission that made nearly $1 billion in investments, and the EducationUSA Fair in Makati and Cebu attended by around 2,500 students.
“2024 was another banner year for the US and the Philippines,” the embassy said, adding that, “We are even more excited about 2025.”
