Rains expected across the Philippines on December 28 due to three weather systems – PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Saturday, Dec. 28, that rains are expected in parts of the country due to three weather systems.

In its weather forecast, PAGASA said that the shear line is affecting the eastern section of Northern Luzon.

The northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” will impact the rest of Northern Luzon, while the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will influence Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Visayas, Caraga, the Davao Region, the Zamboanga Peninsula, the Bicol Region, and Mimaropa. It will also cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the rest of Mindanao.

Due to the shear line, cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected in mainland Cagayan, Apayao, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon.

The “amihan” will bring cloudy skies with rains to Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains to the Ilocos Region, as well as the rest of the Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Localized thunderstorms will result in partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

PAGASA also warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
