Gallup Yearender: Survey reveals top 10 favorite Korean singers, songs in 2024


Polling firm Gallup Korea released its year-end survey, unveiling the top 10 favorite Korean singers and songs in 2024. 

Gallup Korea conducted the survey three times: July 11 - Aug. 2, 2024; Sept. 6 - Oct. 14, 2024; and Nov. 11 - 25, 2025. 

It asked 5,281 people in two age group brackets nationwide in South Korea: 2,171 people aged 13-39 nationwide (excluding Jeju Island) and 3,110 people aged 40 or older. 

The survey results were divided into two categories: 13 to 39 years old, and 40 years old and above. 

In the survey for favorite singers in 2024 among 13 to 39 years old, NewJeans took first place for the second straight year with 25.5 percent followed by IU (20.6 percent), Aespa (13.3 percent), BTS (10.7 percent) and IVE (10.2 percent).

Among those 40 years old and older, trot singers dominated the ranking.  Lim Young-woong grabbed first place with 33.9 percent followed by Lee Chan-won (12.2 percent), Jang  Yoon-jeong (11.8 percent), Young Tak (10 percent) and Na Hoon-a (8.1 percent). 

For the favorite songs in 2024 for the respondents aged 13 to 39, “APT.” by Rosé and Bruno Mars took first place with 9.8 percent, followed by “Supernova” by Aespa (7.2 percent), “How Sweet” by NewJeans (5.9 percent), “Heya” by IVE (5.3 percent) and “Happy” by DAY 6 (4.7 percent). 

Among the respondents aged 40 and up, their No. 1 favorite song is  “Love Always Runs Away” by Lim Young-woong, 2021) with 5.9 percent followed by “Warmth” by Lim Young-woong (5.5 percent), “ At Andong Station” by Jin Sung (3.9 percent), “Trust in Me” by Lim Young-woong  and “A Glass of Makgeolli” by Young Tak (3.8 percent each), and  “First Marriage” by Jang Yoon-jeong (3.3 percent).
