Three members of a family, including an eight-year-old girl from the Philippines living in Baldwin Park, California, were stabbed to death by a 23-year-old man, who was reportedly related to the victims, authorities said on Friday, Dec. 27.
Authorities have arrested the suspect, whose identity and exact relationship to the victims have not been disclosed.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the victims as Mia Chancellor Narvaez, 8; Paul Sebastian Manangan, 16; and Rona Nate, 44.
Police said the victims were found dead inside their home, with all of them sustaining multiple stab wounds to their upper bodies.
According to a report, the Baldwin Park Police responded to a disturbance call in the 4700 block of Bogart Avenue on the evening of Dec. 26.
Some of their neighbors said they heard screams and cries for help from a girl running terrified from the house and were shocked later upon learning what had happened.
The suspect reportedly tried to escape in a vehicle but crashed into a cul-de-sac, leading to his detention.
Police are still investigating to determine the motive for the killing.
