P6.8M 'shabu' seized in Christmas Day sting in Lapu-Lapu City, says PDEA

Anti-narcotics authorities confiscated P6,800,000 worth of suspected "shabu" and arrested two drug suspects during a buy-bust operation in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported on Friday, December 27.

In a statement, the PDEA said that alias "Jesson", 30, and his nephew, alias "John", were collared in Sitio Lower Matumbo during the drug sting. A third suspect identified as alias "Rasheed" eluded arrest.

Authorities also seized from the suspects one kilo of suspected "shabu" concealed in a single pack, a smart-phone, the buy-bust money and other non-drug pieces of evidence.

The operation was carried out by the PDEA Regional Office 7, Naval Intelligence Security Group- Central, and Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

The suspects face charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002."
