The embassy of Japan in the Philippines has opened its application for the Japanese Studies and Teacher Training categories of the 2025 Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) scholarship.
Through the Japanese embassy in Manila , the Japanese government announced the opening of the scholarship programs on Friday, Dec. 27.
Applicants must be a Filipino citizen for both programs.
For Japanese Studies, applicants must be under 30 years old by April 2, 2025 and currently enrolled at the undergraduate level and majoring in fields related to Japanese language and/or Japanese culture.
They must have majored in a field related to Japanese language or culture for a total period of at least one year as of Sept.1, 2025.
For Teacher Training, applicants must be under 35 years old by April 2, 2025 and have at least five years of teaching experience in elementary or secondary educational institutions as of Oct.1, 2025.
They must also be currently employed as a teacher in an elementary or secondary school.
Application forms and other information may be viewed and downloaded from the Embassy website.
The embassy reminded interested applicants that the deadline for submission of applications is on Feb. 14, 2025 (Friday). Only physical documents mailed through courier or hand-delivered to the Embassy will be accepted, it added.
The programs are under the embassy's Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC).
