What to watch out for at the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards

“Hollywood’s Party of the Year,” the globally acclaimed awards ceremony, promises to honor outstanding achievements in film and television, showcasing prolific performances, exceptional storytelling, and blockbuster hits that captivated audiences worldwide.

With Multi-Emmy Award-winning producing duo Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment at the helm as executive producing showrunners and Dick Clark Productions orchestrating the event, the Golden Globes continues its legacy as one of the most anticipated nights in entertainment.

Highlights: Who’s nominated this year?

Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut recently revealed nominees across 27 categories, making us even more excited for what's to come. Here are the highlights:

Film

Best Picture: The Substance, The Brutalist, and Dune: Part Two are among the top contenders.

Best Director: A strong field includes Jacques Audiard (Emilia Perez), Brady Corbet (The Brutalist), and Coralie Fargeat (The Substance).

Best Actor and Actress (Motion Picture): Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Demi Moore (The Substance), and Zendaya (Challengers) are nominated for female roles, and Timothee Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Sebastian Stan (A Different Man), and Jesse Eisenberg (A Real Pain) are recognized in male roles.

Supporting Roles (Motion Picture): Ariana Grande (Wicked), Margaret Qualley (The Substance), and Felicity Jones (The Substance) battle it out for the female nominees while Denzel Washington (Gladiator II), Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain), and Guy Pearce (The Brutalist) are among the male nominees.

Television

Best Television Series: Fan-favorites The Bear, Abbott Elementary, Squid Game, and Shōgun are vying for top honors alongside newcomer Netflix series Nobody Wants This.

Best Performances: Anna Sawai (Shogun), Kristen Bell (Nobody Wants This), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), and Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary) were nominated for their outstanding performances in television series. Meanwhile, Adam Brody (Nobody Wants This), Steve Martin (Only Murders in the Building), and Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) are among the male nominees.

Supporting Role: Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer), and Allison Janney (The Diplomat) earned nominations for their roles alongside male nominees Javier Bardem (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear), and Tadanobu Asano (Shōgun).

Stand-Up Comedy: Some of the hilarious comics who made the cut include Ali Wong (Ali Wong: Single Lady), Seth Meyers (Seth Meyers: Dad Man Walking), and Adam Sandler (Adam Sandler: Love You)

Cinematic Box Office Achievement: Nominees included the year’s biggest blockbusters, such as Wicked, Deadpool & Wolverine, Inside Out 2, and Gladiator II.
