Marcos 'thoroughly reviewing' 2025 budget to ensure constitutionality—Palace

President Marcos and his Cabinet are "thoroughly reviewing" the items of the 2025 national budget to ensure that they conform to the Constitution, Malacañang said.

With or without the calls, the President is making sure that the budget prioritizes the main legacy thrusts of his administration, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said.

"The President and the Cabinet are right now (with or without the calls) thoroughly reviewing the various items of the GAA (General Appropriations Act) to make them conform to the Constitution, and to see to it that the budget prioritizes the main legacy thrusts of the administration," Bersamin said in a statement on Thursday, Dec. 26.

Bersamin made the statement in response to calls to remove unconstitutional items in the proposed P6.352-trillion 2025 national budget ahead of its signing.

The Executive Secretary also assured that Marcos has been prudent in programming and spending the national budget.

"The President has been most prudent in programming and spending of our limited fiscal resources," he said.

The Chief Executive is set to sign the national budget on Dec. 30, 10 days after its supposed signing. Its signing was postponed to give way to a review led by the President.
