The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has facilitated the signing of a new three-year collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between PLDT Inc. and the Manggagawa sa Komunikasyon ng Pilipinas (KMP).
The agreement resolved a long-standing labor dispute in the company, according to DOLE Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma.
Laguesma, long with other DOLE officials, signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA ) on Dec. 12 with PLDT representatives, including Senior Vice President Gina Marina P. Ordoñez, First Vice President Joseph Michael Vincent G. Co, KMP President Alexander F. Tirao, and union members.
Laguesma said the agreement brings significant improvements in employee benefits, reflecting the joint commitment of PLDT and KMP to uphold fair labor practices and enhance working conditions.
He commended the pivotal role of DOLE's National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) in facilitating the settlement, which helped resolve the earlier deadlock.
Laguesma emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue in fostering stable labor relations, which ultimately drive growth and progress.
"This agreement will strengthen and open more opportunities for workers to improve their conditions," Laguesma said, encouraging employees to contribute to PLDT’s ongoing success.
The settlement, which benefits approximately 9,600 employees, underscores the effectiveness of conciliation in fostering long-term collaboration and mutual understanding between employers and workers.
