CAVITE – The police seized illegal firecrackers and improvised cannons, locally known as "boga," in various parts of the province which were to be used in welcoming the new year.
The Regional Intelligence Division 4A (RID4A) seized illegal firecrackers worth P150,000 in Trece Martires City and P9,800 in General Mariano Alvarez (GMA) on Thursday, Dec. 26.
Two suspects were collared in the separate buy-bust operations.
Various component city police station and municipal police station personnel, meanwhile, confiscated several units of “boga” in Amadeo, Bacoor City, Cavite City, GMA, Indang, Kawit, Magallanes, Naic, Rosario, Silang, Tagaytay City, and Trece Martires City on Dec. 25 and 26.
Most of the violators caught playing with “boga” were minors.
They were given a stern warning by the police and were turned over to barangay officials or local Department of Social Welfare and Development personnel.
The confiscated units of improvised cannons were turned over to the Cavite Police Provincial Office in Imus City.
Authorities continue to remind the public to refrain from using illegal firecrackers, urging everyone to celebrate responsibly and follow regulations for a safer holiday season.
