The Quezon City Jail-Male Dormitory (QCJMD) was placed on red alert status to ensure the law and order in the facility this Holiday season, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said.
In a statement on Wednesday, December 25, QCJMD warden Supt. Warren M. Geronimo said the move is a proactive measure as part of the BJMP’s protocol to maintain a trouble-free jail facility.
Under the red alert status, Geronimo said a comprehensive “Personnel Accounting and Rank Inspection” was conducted at the jail’s open grounds.
“This exercise was in observance of the Christmas season and to reinforce the commitment to heightened vigilance during this important period,’’ Geronimo emphasized.
During the inspection, QCJMD assistant warden Chief Inspector Orlando M. Alicante Jr., highlighted the importance of maintaining stringent security protocols in the facility.
While the personnel and persons deprived of liberty (PDL) should experience a peaceful Holiday season, Alicante maintained that “it is equally crucial to remain vigilant to ensure the safety of both personnel and visitors, particularly with increased foot traffic during the holidays.’’
Aside from maintaining an order jail facility, the QCJMD provided inputs in the refinement of the PDL program regulations, stressing that its contributions served as the essential benchmarks in improving the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) in the Formulation of the Social Reintegration Program (SRP) set by the Quezon City government.
