QCPD to strictly enforce firecrackers law

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) will strictly enforce Executive Order No. 28, Series of 2017, which provides regulation and control of the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices to ensure safety during the holiday season.

More than 1,200 personnel and 2,203 force multipliers will be deployed in malls, transportation hubs, parks, places of worship, and other high-traffic areas to ensure the safety of the residents.

The Quezon City government has designated 22 community firecracker zones and two fireworks display areas that will be strictly guarded for public safety.

EO 28 and Republic Act No. 7183, firecrackers such as Watusi, Piccolo, Poppop, Five Star (Big), Pla-Pla, Lolo Thunder, Giant Bawang, Giant Whistle Bomb, Special, Atomic Bomb, Atomic Triangle, Large-size Judas Belt, Goodbye Delima, Hello Columbia, Goodbye Napoles, Super Yolanda, Mother Rockets, Kingkong, Kwiton, Super Lolo, Goodbye Bading, Goodbye Philippines, Bin Laden, Coke-in-Can, Pillbox, Kabasi, Tuna, and Goodbye Chismosa are strictly prohibited.

Meanwhile, the QCPD also collaborated with the Quezon City Local Government Unit (QC-LGU) to implement the regulations under QC Ordinance No. SP-2587 as strengthened by QC Ordinance No. SP-3233.

Violators will face the following penalties:

  • Selling Without Permit: ₱1,000 or imprisonment of up to 3 months (or both), and possible cancellation of business permit.
  • Use Without Permission: Fine of ₱3,000 or imprisonment of up to 6 months (or both).
  • Operation Without Permit: Fine of ₱5,000 or imprisonment of up to 1 year (or both).

Additionally, Ordinance No. SP-2587, strictly prohibits the sale or supply of fireworks to minors, violators will face a fine of ₱5,000 or imprisonment of up to 1 year (or both).

Sama-sama nating gawing ligtas at makabuluhan ang selebrasyon (I encourage everyone to use alternative fireworks and follow the law while celebrating the Holiday Season. For emergencies, call the nearest police station or the QC helpline 122. Let's make the celebration safe and meaningful together)," QCPD Director Col. Melecio Buslig Jr. said.
