Lawmen dressed as Santa Claus distributed diapers and clean clothes to children and conducted games and activities.

Police Major Rhojn Darell Nigos, municipal police chief, said the event provided relief to families displaced by the eruption.

Nigos said the event served as a reminder that even in difficult times, moments of happiness can prevail.

He added that this initiative reflects the unwavering commitment of the police to support and serve the community, particularly during disasters.

La Castellana is one of the municipalities impacted by the recent eruption of Kanlaon. Thousands of residents from the four to six kilometer danger zone were forced to evacuate following the two eruptions on June 3 and Dec. 9.
