Police said the victim was creating alarm and scandal in their house, prompting the 52-year-old suspect to pacify him.
However, the victim got irked and allegedly took a bladed weapon.
To avoid escalating the commotion, the suspect decided to leave the victim’s house but the victim followed him to his house.
Police Major Sarah Villanueva, deputy chief of the Silay City Police Station, said the victim hacked the suspect's door to break in. The suspect retaliated by stabbing the door with a bolo and hit the victim in the left armpit.
He was declared dead in a hospital and the suspect voluntarily surrendered to barangay watchmen who turned him over to the police.
Both parties are discussing an initial settlement, Police Lt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca, Silay police chief, said.
