President Marcos hopes to sign the proposed national budget for 2025 before the year ends, a Malacañang official said.
"The printed copy of the spending measure was only received late Friday afternoon. President Marcos Jr. hopes to act on the measure before the year ends," Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cesar Chavez said.
On Monday, Dec. 23, Marcos met with the Economic Cluster while reviewing the proposed national budget.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan were also present during the meeting at the Palace.
"President Marcos Jr. confers with the Executive Secretary, the Economic Cluster (DOF, DBM, and NEDA) and the Secretary of Public Works and Highways while reviewing the proposed national budget for next year," Chavez said.
The PCO chief also said that despite the issues surrounding the proposed 2025 national budget, Marcos has not discussed the possibility of reenacting this year's budget.
"In the past two meetings that I attended with them, there was never discussion on that (reenacted budget)," Chavez said.
The signing of the proposed P6.352-trillion 2025 national budget was postponed to give way to a review led by the President. It was supposed to be signed on Dec. 20. However, Bersamin announced two days prior the enactment of the budget was rescheduled to a later date.
