Starting Jan. 12, the daily take-home pay of minimum wage earners and the monthly salary of domestic workers in Region X will increase following the approval of new wage orders by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced.
In a statement, the DOLE said Wage Order No. RX-23, affirmed by the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), grants a P23 daily wage hike for non-agriculture workers and P35 for agriculture workers, to be implemented in two tranches.
The adjustments will raise the minimum wage in Wage Category 1 areas, including Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Malaybalay, Valencia, Gingoog, El Salvador, and Ozamiz, to P461.
Meanwhile, Wage Category 2 areas will see a new minimum rate of P446, up from the current P411 for non-agriculture workers.
This category includes areas not listed in Wage Category 1, as well as retail or service establishments employing 10 or fewer workers.
For domestic workers, Wage Order RX-DW-05 approves a P1,000 increase in their monthly salary, raising it from P5,000 to P6,000, effective on the same date.
The DOLE emphasized that these wage increases aim to help workers in Northern Mindanao cope with rising living costs and improve their quality of life.
