P25-billion project aims to revitalize Mandaluyong's business landscape

Robinsons Land Corporation, the Gokongwei group’s property development arm, is adding 340,000 square meters of leasable space to its portfolio with the construction of the P25-billion The Jewel in Mandaluyong.

In an interview, RLC Senior Vice President and General Manager for Robinsons Offices, Jericho P. Go, said The Jewel will be among the country’s biggest single office and mall developments.

The project will rise on a 2.5-hectare lot at the corner of EDSA and Pioneer Street, the former site of Robinsons Forum mall. The Jewel will have four premium office towers, each with 60,000 sqm of space, and an upscale podium mall with a gross leasable area of 80,000 to 100,000 sqm.

Located directly at the Boni station of the EDSA Metro Rail Transit, The Jewel is adjacent to other RLC developments, including Cybergate Plaza 1, 2, and 3, Go Hotel, and high-end residential towers.

Go said the first tower is slated for completion in 2027, with the remaining three towers following in 2028, 2029, and 2030, respectively.

“That’s the ideal schedule, but it will depend on the demand for our Grade A office space. If demand is there, we might complete the office towers sooner,” he said.

Go pointed out that The Jewel is envisioned to be an iconic symbol of contemporary Philippine architecture.

“It will be like the Marina Bay Sands to Singapore, the Sydney Opera House to Australia, Taipei 101 to Taiwan, and the Petronas Towers to Malaysia. The Philippines still needs something as iconic as these,” he said.

Designed by a renowned artist, The Jewel will feature a diamond-shaped façade. The four office towers will be named after diamond cuts: Asscher, Trilliant, Marquise, and Peruzzi.

In addition to its prime location along EDSA and proximity to the MRT station, Go noted The Jewel’s strategic positioning between Quezon City, Ortigas Business Center, Rockwell, Makati, and Bonifacio Global City.

He noted its visibility to and from these central business districts, and even as far as the city of Manila. “It will be prestigious for a company to have its name on top of one of the office towers, with visibility from all these CBDs,” said Go.
