CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – The Police Regional Office-1 has deployed hundreds of personnel to secure the Ilocos region this Christmas under the Ligtas Paskuhan program.
PRO-1 chief Police Brig. Gen. Lou F. Evangelista said policemen backed by other law enforcement agencies, local government units, and key stakeholders are manning malls, churches, markets, transport terminals, resorts, and tourist spots and implementing comprehensive traffic management plans to ensure smooth vehicular flow.
Police checkpoints have been established in strategic locations and stalls selling firecrackers and pyrotechnics are being strictly monitored for compliance with safety regulations.
Designated firecracker zones and community display areas will be closely supervised by PRO-1 personnel to prevent accidents and ensure adherence to local ordinances.
Evangelista added that assistance hubs and police assistance desks have been set up on major thoroughfares, churches, airports, seaports, and transport terminals to provide immediate assistance and support to the public.
Quick response teams remain on heightened alert, ready to respond to emergencies and high-risk law enforcement operations across the four provincial police offices in Region 1.
Evangelista said PRO-1 will remain vigilant and proactive throughout the holiday season.
“Through collaboration with partner-agencies and stakeholders, PRO-1 remains focused on ensuring a safe and happy celebration of Yuletide season for everyone in Region 1. Let’s unite to sustain security and peace in the region to make it a truly memorable and worry-free Christmas and New Year’s season,” he said.
He called on the public to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities, and follow safety guidelines to contribute to a safe Yuletide season.
