Boracay Island pass launched

ILOILO CITY – An online application has been developed to centralize payment for tourists bound for world-famous Boracay Island in Malay town, Aklan province.

The Boracay Philippines Island Pass or Boracay iPass was launched last week after a joint program of the provincial government of Aklan, Malay local government, the Caticlan-Boracay Transport Multipurpose Cooperative (CBTMPC), and Pisopay Inc.

The Boracay iPass addresses the issues of inbound tourists in paying separate boat fares, terminal fees, and environmental fees at the port in mainland Malay town.

Under the old system, tourists lined up in different windows to pay for separate fees. Many tourists described it as waste of time and a huge inconvenience.

“(The Boracay iPass) is for a more convenient and efficient Boracay experience,” said Aklan Gov. Jose Enrique “Joen” Miraflores in a statement.

The iPass can be paid via GCash, PayMaya, 7-Eleven, or online bank transfers.
