Megawide Construction Corporation has formally received the Notice of Award for the P1.87 billion Cavite Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project from the Office of the Provincial Governor of Cavite.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), Megawide said the notice dated Dec. 26, 2024, states that the company, together with Maplecrest Group Inc., was selected as the private sector proponent and awarded the Joint Venture Agreement for the project's implementation.
However, Megawide said the award is subject to the private sector proponent fulfilling all necessary conditions and submitting required documentation.
The unsolicited proposal was submitted by Megawide and Maplecrest in April 2023. It was approved by the Cavite government on Oct. 26, 2023, and subjected to a Swiss challenge.
The BRT system involves the development, operation, and maintenance of a 42-kilometer BRT and point-to-point (P2P) system route connecting Cavite’s cities and municipalities, including Imus, General Trias, Tanza, Kawit, and Trece Martires, to Metro Manila via Megawide’s Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITx).
The project involves two phases with the first phase to be operational in 2026 and the second phase to be operational 10 years later.
Phase 1 involves the construction of Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 and 27 stations for the BRT alignment covering 15 kilometers and 26.5 kilometers for the P2P alignment from PITx to Terminal 2.
Phase 2 calls for the construction of Terminal 3 and the addition of 20 more stations covering 13.79 kilometers from Station 27 to the New Capitol Building of the Province of Cavite for the BRT and an alignment of 34.11 kilometers from PITx to Terminal 3.
