LTO suspends license of truck driver in fatal Taguig road accident

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended for 90 days the driver’s license of the truck driver tagged in the fatal road accident along C-5 Road in Taguig City that left at least one person dead.

LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said the driver’s license of the driver and the truck, a Sino Truck Howo bearing Plate No. NCX213, were also placed on alarm pending the result of the investigation.

Mendoza said a Show Cause Order (SCO) was already issued against the truck driver and the registered owner of the truck.

In the SCO, the driver was asked to explain in notarized writing why his driver’s license should not be revoked for violation of reckless driving and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle, under Section 27 of the Republic Act 4136.

On the other hand, he said the registered owner/operator of the truck, on the other hand, was also asked to explain why they should not be held administratively liable for Employing a Reckless Driver.

The issuance of the SCO stemmed from the incident that happened along C5 Road Southbound near Palar Tunnel, Barangay Pinagsama, Taguig City at around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday wherein the truck reportedly rammed four vehicles.

Police said at least one person died while at least two others were injured as a result of the incident.
