Alec Stockton provided the tip to the spear in the furious third quarter flurry as Converge pulled the rug from under Barangay Ginebra with a comeback 98-90 victory in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup at the Batangas City Coliseum on Saturday, Dec. 21.
The FiberXers gave the Kings a dose of their own medicine, climbing back from a huge 17-point hole to not only stun the popular ball club but also the sellout pro-Ginebra crowd.
Stockton was at the forefront of the assault pouring 17 of his 22 points to help Converge erase a once 38-55 deficit and turn into a 73-70 advantage heading into the fourth.
The rest of the FiberXers picked from where Stockton left off in the third as Schonny Winston also had 11 of his 15 points in the payoff period to repel any Ginebra rally.
Stockton also had eight assists, six rebounds and a steal to complete a stellar night while import Cheick Diallo added a double-double of 19 points and 18 rebounds.
Jordan Heading had 13 point, six assists and four rebounds while Justin Arana chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds for the FiberXers who now have stringed together three-straight wins to hike up their record to 5-2 at the second spot in share with Eastern.
The loss wasted the efforts of Justin Brownlee who exploded for 39 points and 10 rebounds.
Maverick Ahanmisi and RJ Abarrientos were the other double-digit scorers for Ginebra with 15 and 11 respectively but were not enough as the Kings slid to a 3-2 slate.
