Cloudy skies with rain expected in parts of the country due to shear line, 'amihan' — PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted cloudy skies with scattered rains in various parts of the Philippines on Saturday, Dec. 21.

In its weather update, PAGASA reported that the shear line will continue to affect Southern Luzon and Visayas, while the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” will impact the rest of Luzon.

Due to the shear line, PAGASA predicts cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, the Bicol Region, Visayas, and Dinagat Islands.

Meanwhile, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi may experience similar weather conditions due to the trough of a low pressure area (LPA).

In Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan, cloudy skies with rain are expected due to the “amihan.”

PAGASA also noted that the northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains to the rest of Luzon.

In the rest of Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are anticipated due to the trough of the LPA.

PAGASA has warned of possible flash floods or landslides in areas affected by moderate to heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.
