A survey named the worst Korean films of 2024.
Korean media outlet Sports Kyunghyang is back with its 8th Raspberry Film Festival, the Korean version of the Golden Raspberry Awards or Razzies in the US, which names the worst films and actors.
Under the 8th Raspberry Film Festival, Sports Kyunghyang held a survey among 51 film journalists from major South Korean media outlets covering Korean commercial films released from December 2023 to Nov. 30 this year.

Each participant cast three votes in each category and selected the worst films, worst acting and worst manners covering actors, directors, producers and other filmmakers.
In the 7th Raspberry Film Festival in 2023, “Marrying the Mafia: Returns” was voted the No. 1 worst Korean film.
For 2024, the winner of the worst film category did not have an overwhelming margin and the top three were ranked by a difference of one to two votes.
Here are the worst Korean films in 2024 based on the results under the 8th Raspberry Film Festival in South Korea:
1st place - “The Plot” (15 votes)
Voted as the No. 1 worst Korean movie of 2024 with 15 votes was “The Plot,” directed by Lee Yo-sup, that was released in May this year.
A remake of the Hong Kong film “Accident,” it starred Gang Dong-won, Lee Moo-saeng, Lee Mi-sook, Lee Hyun-wook, and Tang Jun-sang.
In the same survey, Gang Dong-won was voted as the No. 1 worst film actor in South Korea in 2024.
“The Plot” recorded 525,369 in tickets sold and grossed $3,240,570, according to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), which tracks box office receipts.

The main reason why “The Plot” was chosen as the worst Korean film was poor composition and directing, Sports Kyunghyang reported.
Some of the reasons by voters were” "A genre film that sends all the fun of the genre to Andromeda," "The worst result that can be achieved with a good original work and good actors," "A story that is neither here nor there, with only Gang Dong-won and Lee Jong-suk left,"and "How long are you going to try to cover it up with the name value of the lead actors?"
2nd place - “Amazon Bullseye” (12 votes)
Although it had actors Ryu Seung-ryong (“Moving”) and Jin Seon-kyu, the comedy action movie “Amazon Bullseye” was voted as the No. 2 worst Korean film of 2024 with 12 votes.
It was released in South Korea in October and garnered 606,612 in total admissions and gross of $3,694,628, according to KOFIC.
The 12 people who chose “Amazon Bullseye” as the worst movie cited these reasons, according to Sports Kyunghyang: "It's so bad that you'll want to look for digestive drink more than the movie itself," "It's regrettable that such an outdated and anachronistic comedy could be presented with the resources of today's times," "It was made to make you laugh, but it's not funny," “This kind of comedy is racist,” and "Distracting directing and exaggerated acting."

3rd place. “Project Silence” (11 votes)
“Project Silence” received 11 votes to rank as the third worst Korean film in 2024.
Directed by Kim Tae-gon, the disaster survival film starred Ju Ji-hoon, the late Lee Sun-kyun, Kim Hee-won, Moon Sung-keun, and Ye Soo-jung.
“Project Silence” was a disappointment at the box office, selling 689,603 tickets and grossing $4,601,957 out of a production cost of $13.7 million.
Some of the reasons for choosing “Project Silence” as the worst movie included, "It's a waste of hundreds of billions in production costs. The film industry believes that everything will work out if they just throw money at it," "Actors and a waste of capital," "It also feels bad that it's being packaged as the late Lee Sun-kyun's last work," "The incomprehensible setting, melodrama, and humor make me frown," the report stated.

4th place - “Wonderland,” “Dead Man,” “Devils Stay” (10 votes each)
Receiving 10 votes each for the No. 4 worst Korean films of 2024 were “Wonderland,” “Dead Man,” “Devils Stay.”
“Wonderland” gained attention for its star-studded cast including Tang Wei, Bae Suzy, Park Bo-gum, Jung Yu-mi, Choi Woo-shik, and Gong Yoo.
But when it was released, it was criticized as just a video pictorial and became a disappointment at the box office, according to the report. It recorded total admissions of 625,908 and gross of $4,055,829, based on KOFIC data.
Some of the reasons for the voters were "a movie that makes you wonder, 'Is this the right movie with these actors? Is the ending right?'" and "a weak narrative compared to the planning."
“Dead Man,” released in February starred Jo Jin-woong and Kim Hee-ae (“The World of the Married”).
"The fact that we have to see the same Jo Jin-woong acting again is a barrier to entry, and Kim Hee-ae's character is also strange," "It's full of cliches," and "Is it because of the title? The directing, story, and acting are all dead" were some of the reasons by the voters.
It only sold 238,235 tickets and grossed $1,556,805 at the Korean box office.
“Devils Stay” was Park Shin-yang’s comeback film but it failed at the box office, selling 200,490 for a gross of $1,287,044.
Some of the reasons for its selection as the worst film were, "It deserves to be cursed at by occult fans," and "It's scary that good ingredients can create the worst taste."
