PBBM brings P42-M cash aid to typhoon-hit Cavite

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on November 14, 2024, delivered a total of PhP42.33 million in financial assistance to 4,233 farmers and fisherfolk in Cavite affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine and Super Typhoon Leon.

Of the 4,233 beneficiaries, 18 came from the Municipality of Kawit; five from Noveleta; 127 from Bacoor; 37 from Imus; 119 from Dasmariñas; 33 from Carmona; 488 from Silang; 27 from General Mariano Alvarez; 331 from General Trias; and 139 from Amadeo.

The President also extended financial aid to 172 beneficiaries from the Municipality of Indang; 119 from Tanza; 101 from Trece Martires; 63 from Tagaytay; 189 from Alfonso; 839 from General Emilio Aguinaldo; 304 from Maragondon; 577 from Magallanes; and 165 from Mendez.

A total of 327 from the Municipality of Naic and 53 from Ternate received aid. Each of the beneficiaries received PhP10,000 in cash.

“Patuloy ang ating pagsusumikap maibalik sa normal ang kalagayan ng mga Caviteñoat mga karatig na probinsya ng Calabarzon,” President Marcos said in his speech during the aid distribution at the Tagaytay International Convention Center.

He vowed to help victims of Typhoons Kristine and Leon recover from their impacts as soon as possible.

The President said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) were present during the event to help provide help.

As of Nov. 12, Tuesday, over 66,700 families in Cavite were reported affected by the combined effects of Kristine and Leon. The figure translates to over 261,000 affected individuals.

President Marcos urged Caviteños to remain resolute and hopeful in the face of challenges.

“Mga minamahal kong kababayan, sa kabila ng mga pagsubok na ating pinagdadaanannawa ay pumaibabaw ang ating pagkakaisa at pagkikipagkapwa,” the President said.

“Hinihikayat ko kayong lahat na manatiling matatag, magtulungan po kayo, at huwagmawalan ng pag-asa—dahil ang pamahalaan ay kasama ninyo sa bawat hakbang ng inyong pagbangon,” he added.
