
An investigation was launched by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to determine the cause of the fire that razed a dredger while in the vicinity waters of Manila Bay on Thursday, Dec. 19.
The PCG identified the vessel as MV Hynz 31. It was not immediately clear whether or not the dredger was involved in the reclamation activities in Manila Bay.
The PCG deployed BRP Sindangan (MRRV-4407) and BRP Suluan (MRRV-4406) to put out the fire that hit the dredger.
The fire was declared out at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Personnel of the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Manila were sent to conduct an initial investigation, according to PCG.
As of writing, the PCG has yet to determine the cause of the blaze and the extent of damage on the dredger.
No casualty has been reported.
