MEDIAMEN and Baguio City officials led by Mayor Benjamin Magalong sign the Memorandum of Agreement to develop a picnic grove in Burnham Park.

The 700-square-meter area has long been used as a media camp especially during the BCBC’s Lucky Summer Visitors project in partnership with the city government and stakeholders.

“The city government thanks BCBC for your interest in adopting a part of the picnic grove in Burnham Park so that it can be beautified. We started the adopt a park program two years ago because the city lacks funds for the maintenance of parks. So many organizations are helping to maintain the beauty of our parks. BCBC also hopes that we will help in its arrangement,” Magalong said.

BCBC President Thom Picana called on the next officials of the BCBC to prioritize the project as P500,000 is needed to upgrade the picnic grove named Camp Peppot Ilagan in memory of the late local newspaper editor and city councilor Peppot Ilagan.

“I call on the next BCBC officials to make this project a priority, because our commitment to the city government to beautify this area depends on it. This is a historic accomplishment for all of us, because this is our dream to have this place in our hands, so let's enrich it,” Picana said.
