The extraordinary music of Colombian harpist Wuilmer Lopez

On November 21, 2024, celebrated Colombian harpist Wuilmer López, born in Bogota Distrito Capital in Colombia, made a special performance at the Embassy of Colombia, Manila. The event was organized by Charge’s de Affaires Juan Pablo Mejia of the Embassy of Colombia for the Filipino media at the embassy grounds in Makati. 

Wuilmer, a Master of Music from the INCCA University of Colombia with a distinction in “Meritorious Thesis” studied with Maestro Hildo Ariel Aguirre. At a young age, he stands out as a composer and soloist interpreter of the Llanera Harp with traditional Colombian, Latin American, and world music repertoires and global influences. Drawn from his extensive discography, his performance included pieces that highlight his expertise as a composer and interpreter.

As one of Colombia's most acclaimed young musicians, López has performed internationally and has been recognized with numerous awards for his contributions to Colombian and Latin American music.

His presentation at the embassy celebrated Colombia's rich cultural heritage through music, underscoring the harp's significance in the country's artistic traditions. He has performed at prestigious festivals, including Lollapalooza, Estéreo Picnic, and international harp festivals in Europe and Asia. His unique fusion of traditional and modern sounds promises an unforgettable experience that highlights the beauty and richness of Colombian music.
The exclusive musical showcase of López is part of his tour in South-East Asia (Indonesia and Philippines).
