McCain has been a potent weapon for the Sixers where he averaged 16.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 16 games – a spectacular statline from a rookie in the world’s biggest basketball league.

His performance was highlighted by his 34-point explosion in their 114-106 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers last Nov. 14.

From there, he became part of the ACC All-Rookie team, McDonald’s All-American and won the California Mr. Basketball award – a recognition for the most outstanding high school player in the state.

And with his great showing, McCain eventually went to the 2024 NBA Draft where he was selected by Philadelphia as 16th overall pick in the first round.
