Clark International Airport soars to victory as ‘International Airport of the Year’

Clark International Airport (CRK) in Mabalacat, Pampanga has been named “International Airport of the Year – Philippines” at the 2024 TDM Travel Trade Excellence Awards – Asia. The award highlights CRK’s role as a leading airport in Asia, known for its efficient passenger services, contribution to regional and global travel, and its continued service to millions of travelers, driving economic growth in Central Luzon.

Clark International Airport (CRK) in Mabalacat, Pampanga has been named “International Airport of the Year – Philippines” at the 2024 TDM Travel Trade Excellence Awards – Asia.

Its standout features, including the world’s largest Glued-Laminated Timber (Glulam) roof inspired by the Zambales mountains, showcase CRK’s commitment to global standards. Designed by the partnership of Philippine infrastructure innovator Megawide and Hong Kong’s Integrated Design Associates (IDA), the airport exemplifies innovation and sustainability.

Its interior, designed by Populous and Casas+ Architects, reflects the landscapes of Central Luzon, with inspirations from Mt. Arayat and Mt. Pinatubo. While the color palette echoes local natural sceneries, including lahar-colored floors symbolizing the 1991 Mt. Pinatubo eruption. Easy navigation is enhanced by color-coded boarding gates, with green representing Mt. Arayat and blue for Manila Bay.

It is also listed as one of the world’s most beautiful airports by the prestigious UNESCO Prix Versailles—one of only two from Southeast Asia to receive the award. In 2021, CRK was a top-six finalist in the World Selection Prix Versailles Architecture and Design Awards under the airport category.
