The accident occurred when the vehicle struck a concrete barrier separating the main EDSA roadway from the service road, causing it to overturn.
Responders from Barangay Ilaya were the first to arrive at the scene, followed shortly by personnel from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
The driver, who remained conscious, was seen using his phone while still inside the overturned vehicle.
With the help of first responders, all three occupants of the AUV, including the driver, were safely rescued from the vehicle.
A female passenger sustained minor injuries while a male passenger was placed on a stretcher and transported for further medical evaluation.
The collision severely damaged the concrete barrier and caused significant traffic congestion.
Vehicles were forced to use the narrow service road, causing a traffic jam that extended to Ortigas and worsened the morning rush hour traffic in the major thoroughfare.
Authorities managed to upright the vehicle and load it onto a tow truck to clear the area.
Motorists are advised to avoid the southbound lane of EDSA near Guadalupe and consider alternative routes.
