Butuan City Police Office Director Police Col. Rommel D. Villamor said Chris, the 10th most wanted person on the city level, was caught in Barangay Mahay on Thursday, Nov. 28, for attempted murder.

Jif, the No. 1 most wanted person on the station level, was apprehended on Friday, Nov. 29, in Barangay Basag for violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Villamor lauded the operating units and the community for the successful arrest of these fugitives.

“I am grateful to the community for your unwavering support and cooperation with our authorities, resulting in the success of our operations, and we will continue to work together and unite, to share to the community the true peace of our city," the BCPO chief added.

PRO 13-Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said the suspects are under the custody of apprehending units for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, the PRO-13 will deploy an estimated 2,000 lawmen in the Caraga region to secure the people during the Yuletide season under the  “Ligtas Paskohanan 2024” program.

Ometer said police assistance desks will be established in churches, malls, terminals, and other public places.

The Explosive and Ordnance Disposal (EOD), together with K9 units, will be assigned to areas in the region where heavy influx of people is expected.

“Our force-multipliers will also be tapped to help in securing the respective places,” Omerter said.
