ATIMONAN, Quezon – A 39-year-old collector was killed and his two back riders were injured after their motorcycle was rammed by a passenger bus in Barangay Malinao Ilaya, this town, on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 1.
Atimonan police chief Police Major Marnie Abellanida identified the fatality as Jonathan of Barangay Market View in Lucena City, Quezon province.
Investigation said the victims were on their way to the Bicol region when a van suddenly stopped to avoid hitting a vehicle in front. The van was hit by a bus tailing behind.
The bus encroached on the opposite lane and rammed the victims’ motorcycle.
Jonathan’s back riders – son Brent, a 10-year-old elementary pupil, and Jasmine, 39 – were injured. Police said they were wearing helmets when they figured in the accident.
The victims were taken to a hospital here where Jonathan was declared dead due to traumatic vein injury.
Police apprehended the bus driver who faces cases of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injuries, and multiple damage to property.
Meanwhile, the body of a 28-year-old fisherman from Jomalig, Quezon wad found floating on the shoreline of Alabat, Quezon on Sunday.
The Alabat Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office identified the victim as Raymart Arcilla Sabio.
His body was discovered by a concerned citizen.
The MDRRMO believes that Sabio drowned due to bad weather while fishing.
