Green logistics firm Mober has partnered with BDO Unibank, Inc. (BDO) to finance the acquisition of 60 new electric vehicle (EV) trucks, expanding its fleet to 110 EV units and solidifying its position as a pioneer in sustainable logistics.
In a statement on Thursday, Dec. 19, Mober said the partnership underscored both companies' commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation.
“This is a historic milestone not just for Mober but for the entire logistics industry in the Philippines,” Dennis Ng, Mober chief executive officer said.
With the addition of these 60 EV trucks, Ng said Mober’s fleet now stands at 110 units, bringing it closer to the goal of 240 units by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
“Supported by our proprietary Battery Management System (BMS) and Transport Management System (TMS), we’re ensuring not only sustainability but also efficiency and reliability for our clients,” he added.
The new EV trucks will be added to Mober's existing fleet, which serves a diverse range of clients including IKEA, Nestlé, and Starbucks.
The company's commitment to sustainability extends beyond its fleet to include innovative solutions such as its BMS and TMS, which optimize battery life and delivery routes for maximum efficiency and reduced emissions.
BDO, the largest bank in the Philippines, said the partnership is a key component of its green financing initiatives.
"We remain committed to supporting eco-friendly initiatives and innovative businesses that nurture the environment and present opportunities for economic growth," Charles M. Rodriguez, BDO Unibank's Institutional Banking Group executive vice president and head of said.
"This partnership with Mober reinforces our shared commitment towards a greener, more sustainable future,” he added.
This latest investment follows a $6 million investment secured last year from the Southeast Asia Clean Energy Facility II (SEACEF II), managed by Clime Capital.
The investment further supports Mober's efforts to accelerate the transition to clean energy and low-carbon solutions in the region.
To accommodate its growing EV fleet, Mober is also set to open a new charging hub in Pasay City by the end of January 2025, which is poised to be Southeast Asia's largest logistics-focused EV charging facility.
