Marcos meets with Japan’s security adviser in Palace


President Marcos on Thursday, Dec. 19, hosted Japan’s National Security Adviser Akiba Takeo at Malacañan Palace.

During the Japanese official’s courtesy call, the President gifted him with a token and a birthday cake, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said.
 

“President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. welcomes Mr. Akiba Takeo, National Security Adviser of Japan, during a courtesy call on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at the Study Room, Malacañan Palace, Manila,” according to PCO.
 

“During the meeting the president presented a token and a birthday cake to Akiba Takeo who celebrates his 65th birthday today,” it added.
 

Also present during the courtesy call were Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. and Japanese Ambassador Endo Kazuya
 

A photo was also shared by the PCO showing the President in the act of clapping his hands as the Japanese official blew the birthday candle.
 

PCO has yet to provide information on what was discussed between the officials.
