ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo provincial government has approved a P5.97-billion budget for next year.

The Iloilo provincial board granted the proposed budget submitted by the administration of Iloilo Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. this week.
The budget is composed of P4.85 billion for the general fund, P1.86 billion for special purpose appropriations, P1.78 billion for maintenance and other operating expenses, P1.18 billion for personal services, P10 million for capital outlay, and P1.12 billion for the local economic enterprise or the allocation for the Iloilo Provincial Hospital and 11 other district hospitals under the management of the provincial government as well as other facilities, including the Iloilo Sports Complex.
The provincial government dropped its request for a P20-million intelligence fund and transferred the budget under donations.
